#Cine70s | Beast of the Yellow Night, 1971.

Beast of the Yellow Night is a 1971 Filipino/American horror film, directed by Eddie Romero and starring John Ashley, who co-produced the film with Romero. It was the first release for Roger Corman's distribution company New World Pictures.

“Once again Romero triumphs at combining diverse styles of filmmaking but here he also has a strong story to tell and is able to utilize several important themes in this work. There are to be sure, some flaws but these flaws are small compared to just how well Beast of the Yellow Night works as a whole.” Bad Movies for Bad People

“The make-up is poor, especially the gore, and the budget is quite low, even with Roger Corman as executive producer.” Down Among the “Z” Movies

” …reminds one of later TV shows like The Incredible Hulk and Quantum Leap, by way of cheap Filipino horror. Ashley’s ugly makeup is pretty good, despite the fact that you can see the back of his white neck much of the time, and he plays a really ferocious monster.” DVD Drive-In

#Cine | Brandon Tenold / Faulty Flicks / Gorey Bits.

I tackle the crazy Roger Corman produced fantasy movie "Sorceress" (1982), which features horny goat men, permed barbarians & flying blue lion gods!  Although oddly enough, no sorceress...

"In An Age When All Women Were Slaves, She Would Call No Man Master!"  From 1983, Matt Cimber directs...

"Herbert West Has A Very Good Head On His Shoulders... And Another One In A Dish On His Desk"

It's H.P. Lovecraft's classic tale, adapted by the master of horror: Stuart Gordon. Here's my favorite bits from the 1985 classic, RE-ANIMATOR. This movie is so shockingly gory, we had to break it down to two parts. After all, who's going to believe a talking head?
